Here is the England squad that Fabio Capello has picked for the friendly game on Saturday against Slovakia and the World Cup Qualifying game against Ukraine on 1st April.

  • David James (Portsmouth)
  • Robert Green (West Ham)
  • Ben Foster (Man Utd)

Defenders

  • Leighton Baines (Everton)
  • Phil Jagielka (Everton)
  • Joleon Lescott (Everton)
  • Ashley Cole (Chelsea)
  • John Terry (Chelsea)
  • Rio Ferdinand (Man Utd)
  • Glen Johnson (Portsmouth)
  • Matthew Upson (West Ham)
  • Ledley King (Tottenham)

Midfielders

What do you think of this squad? Are Ledley King and Leighton Baines good enough to play for England, should Ashley Young and Agbonlahor have been dropped, are there to few players from the ‘big four’?

Filed under: Football — Nerdfly @ 1:20 pm

Champions League Final 2008

The draw for the UEFA Champions League was made today at 11am (BST), the draw was for the finals stage including the quarter finals, semi finals and the final itself. Here are the results of that draw.

Quarter Finals

Villarreal

V

Arsenal

Manchester United

V

FC Porto

Liverpool

V

Chelsea

Barcelona

V

Bayern Munich

Semi Finals

Manchester United/FC Porto

V

Villarreal/Arsenal

Barcelona/Bayern Munich

V

Liverpool/Chelsea

The home team in the final will be from Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Chelsea or Liverpool.

Being a Manchester United fan myself I am quite pleased with this draw and I only hope that we make it to the Final along with Liverpool so that we can rectify our poor performances in the League against them. Liverpool and Chelsea must be sick of the sight of each other in the Champions League as they always seem to meet, this being the 5th consecutive meeting in the competition.

Based on the draw who do you think is most likely to end up winning the trophy?
